Our Stories

Tim and Sarah

We moved to the Omaha area back in 2004 and began looking for a church.  Our search took us to several churches all around the city.  Our goal was to find a friendly, Bible believing church with a pastor who preached the word of God.

It was harder than we thought to find a pastor who preached from Scripture and did not compromise the Word for “feel good sermons.”  An old college friend suggested Harvest Community Church, noting that the preaching was particularly grounded in the Bible and that the people were warm and friendly.  For several more weeks we ignored his invitation until, for no particular reason, we decided to try Harvest.

What we found was a place where the Word of God is supreme to our own wants and desires, where the Bible is preached from the pulpit and lived through the congregation.  We attended sporadically for several weeks but each time we attended, we heard the Word of God being preached and felt welcomed by the people.

Our walk with Christ is often slow and full of sidetracks, yet Harvest reflects the Grace and Mercy of Christ by taking all who seek and feeding them with Scripture, love and, often times, food.   None of us are capable of Salvation from our sins but through the work of Christ on the Cross.  Harvest is a place for sinners and broken people to be encouraged and shepherded to Christ where all can find hope.

We joined Harvest in 2007, not because we were perfect Christians but because we are broken and require Jesus Christ.  Harvest is a place where our faith grows in the support of fellow believers and where we rejoice in the great gift of God, eternal life through Jesus Christ, His Son!
