Our Worship
“Worship is the pinnacle of our week”. That is a phrase you will
frequently hear at Harvest. It is a phrase that captures a very
significant core value of our body. Of all the commandments,
Jesus said that the command to worship is preeminent, “You shall love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.”
In keeping with the primacy of worship and our desire to be a church modeling reconciliation, we are committed to worship services that “maximize participation and ownership.” We want every age group, every church music tradition, and every culture represented to take ownership at some point in the service. Musically, that means that we intentionally sing a variety musical styles (Traditional, Contemporary, Gospel, etc.), a blend of contemporary praise music and traditional hymns (with traditional and contemporary melodies), and even songs in other languages (Espanol!).
There is nothing more important in the life of the church than what happens between 9:30 and ll:00 on Sunday morning. That requires preparation. It requires preparation on the part of the Pastor, the worship leader, the musicians, and the congregation. As a Session we encourage each member to come to worship already worshiping. We encourage you to be well rested physically and spiritual as you come on Sunday morning. We encourage time with the Lord on Saturday evening and Sunday morning in private and with your family.
